Tribal Galaxy!

Hello girls!

When I saw the tribal galaxy design that Mr Candiipants achieved inspired by a society6 phone case, I immediately wanted to make a try:

Sadly my acrylic paint pen (POSCA) wasn't opaque enough and crackled with my topcoat :/

I used a lot of colors for this design, starting by one coat of a dark green crème from Avon.

I sponged other colors from Avon: a light grey crème, a navy shimmer (similar to China Glaze - Rodeo Fanatic) and a purple glass fleck (similar to CG - Senorita Bonita).
I also sponged Orly - Butterfly and Biguine Makeup Gloss & Shock - Blue Lagoon.

Then I added one coat of China Glaze - Fairy Dust (thank you Nikki!) to give it a lot of sparkliness!

I decorated this galaxy using my white Posca and some holo gold hex glitter, then Out The Door Top Coat ;)

Did you liked it? I am disapointed of the opacity and crackling of the white paint but I think these are cute! Not as badass as Mr Candiipants' but a little more detailed :)

Have a great day!

Prada Chevron Mani with my Blueberry Glitter Franken!

 Hello everyone!

I hope you're doing allright! I'm working hard for my studies, but still had time for nail art!

I wanted to use my lastest franken and things happened that I had two untried colors that were making the perfect combination :D So I gave a try at the Prada pattern Sophy Robson introduced to the nail art world ;)

I'd describe my franken as a blueberry fine glitter mix. The polish is clear but packed with glitter. I mixed black, duochrome, bright blue, purple and blueberry holographic glitter.

Do you have a name for it? I was wondering about blueberry and cats (all my polishes have names about cats)... ?

Here is how I achieved the look:

I started with PVA glue as basecoat (my first try wasn't convincing :s). I applied one of Rouge Baiser - Gris Lavande to give more opacity before the coat of my franken (only one!).

With the polishes Kiko - 274 and Biguine Makeup Gloss & Schock - I freehanded the "V" lines.
Then I used a black marker to outline the geometric shapes.

Do you like this nail art? I'm a bit sad the lines aren't really sharp and contrasting, but I liiiiike it!

I hope the PVA glue basecoat won't make it pop off, I already have a chip on both my thumbs...

Have a great day!

Vintage Flowers for Day 9 of My Favorite Things Nail Challenge!

Hello everyone!

Today is the day of floral nails! And I had tons of ideas for today, but after I saw a tutorial from Robin Moses I picked this vintage design. It is kind of abstract so it was quicker to do than every idea I had ;)

I only used nail polishes so it was quite different to do than with acrylic paint on Robin Moses video ;)
Almost everything here is a mix of color:
-background: Wet'n Wild - Black Crème
-background highlights: Wet'n Wild - Black Crème , Essie - Navigate Her
-roses: China Glaze - Adventure Red-Y, OPI - Hot & Spicy , OPI - Alpine Snow
-violets: Rouge Baiser - Gris Lavande
-leaves/plants: OPI - Uh-Oh Roll Down the Window , China Glaze - Kahalari Kiss , Modelite - Yellow

Here is an extra picture because I realized during shopping that my nails were matching my wallet!

I really love these nails I think they are romantic & classy.

I just thought of maybe adding the Louboutin touch to my nails, what do you think?

I'm really sad it's almost the end of the challenge, I really had fun doing it!!

Heart Print for My Favorite Things Nail Challenge Day 8!

Hello everyone!

It's now time to day 8 of the challenge which meant heart &/or love! I wasn't so inspired by the love theme or romantic so I went to this modern geometric & fall appropriate print I saw on Louis Vuitton shoes:

I started the design with two coats of OPI - Skull & Glossbones (you've seen that guy often recently!).

To execute the print, I used a medium brush and freehanded two drops for every little heart, using both China Glaze: First Mate and Purr-fect Plum. You can achieve it with a dotting tool, it's that simple!

I really like this weird association of colors :) What do you think?

Serape (fail) - My Favorite Things Nail Challenge Day 6 "Stripes"

Hello everyone!

Today I'm showing you my entry to the "Stripes" day of the challenge!
I'm very late, & sorry, because I've been doing several craft projects this week and I had no time (and clean hands!) to do my nails! No my projects are over but I'll make a post to show you what I've done ;)

For today's challenge, I wanted to do serape inspired nails! These are the mexican blankets you might have seen before. This kind of pattern always make me think about Peru, and Peru makes me think about one of my favorite animals: Llama! So I wanted to give a try, I hope it does look like a llama!

Today was also my first try at one stroke and it was a success, I was really proud of my mani... before my topcoat! :( It made the paint crackle...

I started with ONE coat of China Glaze - Adventure Red-Y.
All the stripes are done with gouache paint, but the llama is done (in order from darkest to brightest) with E.Pinaud - Chocolat, China Glaze - Desert Sun and China Glaze - Kahalari Kiss.

I'm really proud of this mani, but also sooo disapointed  :(
What do you think?

CMYK! My Favorite Things Nail Challenge Day 5 "Polka Dots"

Hi everyone!

Sorry my post is a little bit late during the week but I have been overwhelmed by painting projects and my hands never got clean. I'll make a post about those projects at the end of the week!

Today I'm showing my entry for Day 4 of My Favorite Things Nail Challenge, which theme was "polka dots"! I had the idea for this manicure for a looong time ago, at first I thought I was gonna submit it for Chalkboard Nails Dotting Tool Contest!

I was inspired by the pattern we see when we look close to a CMYK printed poster! And I thought this was the occasion to take a try to the newspaper technique ;) On to the pics:

To achieve this look, I applied two coats of OPI - Alpine Snow.
Then I took my colored polishes and I mixed every one with some Seche Restore. I used Rimmel - , OPI - Fly, and.
I grabbed my biggest dotting tool  and started dotting, making sure that the dots were overlaying each others.

For my accent nail, I applied two coats of OPI - Skull & Glossbones.
Then I cut a piece of newspaper, dipped it in medical alcohol and transfer the letters ;)

Did you liked this mani? It is so eye-catching!

My Favorite Thing Nail Art Challenge: "My Favorite Animal"

Hello everyone!

Today I am gonna show you a mani including cats! I really do looove cats!

My parents have 3 cats, my bf's mother 3 too and his father 2. And I think in the future months we are gonna adopt one too! I love their grace and their attitude, I love listening to their purr too! And they are really de-stressing when you pet them :)
I am also crazy about zebras, beavers and llama, but I preferred to do only one animal so that this mani doesn't look like a mess!

For this mani I started with two coats of various polishes:
OPI - Skull & Glossbones for my thumbs and ring fingers,
OPI - Sparrow Me The Drama for my index and pinkies,
Stargazer - 237 for my middle fingers.

For my gold blingy nails I added one coat of a F21 polish that looks the twin of LA Colors Color Craze - Goddess (I think they are the same polishes but different labels are printed on the bottles). I layered two more coats of polish: an unnamed baby pink & pale green chunky glitter from Claire's.

For the kitty design, I started by freehanding the global shape with Wet'n Wild Black Crème (isn't that polish in every of my posts?). Then I took my OPI - Alpine snow for the details and I colored the little noses with Sparrow Me The Drama. :)

For my right hand, I used the method of home made stickers for the little cats ;)

I am really in love with this mani, it is very fun and girly but in the same time grey and black look classy together! What do you think?

And now a SURPRISE! I have more pictures about my favorite animals for you! They were made one year ago so sorry for the bad quality of the pics!

For my beaver mani, I started with two coats of Essie - Sew Psyched (<3).
Then I freehanded the beaver with a tiny nail art brush.
I used Essie - Chinchilly for the principal color of the beaver, Sèche - Blanc for the eyes and teeth, a mixture of both for the cheeks and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Slick Slate for the details of the cheeks, nose and ears.

For this simple zebra design, I started with two coats of Sally Hansen Chrome - Champagne Pearl.
Then I added the stamping zebra design that can be found on the plate m57 using Konad Special Black.

Did you like those old manis? Which animal mani do you prefer?
I might need to come out with a llama design now ;)

Zig zags fade = Missoni nail art! (+ Tutorial!)

Hello Everyone!

Today I have a post that almost doesn't look like a gradient, but original idea for this nails was a gradient. I wanted to do a stripe fade à la Mr Candiipants, but using zigzags instead of straight lines.

Then I realised my design was more like a Missoni pattern:

I wouldn't advise a special base color for this type of mani. In fact I used a random light blue (from a Forever 21 set) for a first coat of opacity. Then using every time a zigzag pattern with my tiny art brush, I covered it completely with different colors (from the cuticules to the edge):

OPI - Dutch'Ya Just Love OPI?
Miss Cop - Vernis Pop Fluo n°6
Forever 21 - Unnamed light purple from a set
Sephora - Jacuzzi Bubbles
Essie - Navigate Her
OPI - Uh-Oh Roll Down the Window
E. Pinaud - Chocolat

I am really happy with this manicure, but it took quite a long time to do the left hand: I had not time left to do zig zags on my right hand, so I did a skittle mani with the first 5 colors ;)
Sadly because I was late my right hand nails have been damage so I don't if I'm gonna enjoy this mani a long time :/

Do you like it?

Happy polishing to you ;)

Blue PCB Nails!

Hi everyone!

Today my nails aren't purple!
I've been wanting to make these nails for a while. They are printed circuit board inspired, but in blue tones. The inspiration came from the walls of the labyrinth in our short film! I chose the texture and really liked the pattern.

So here we have two coat of OPI - Fly (from the Nicki Minaj collection). I think I'll need to buy a full size bottle, I've already used half of my mini.

I freehanded the pattern with a tiny art brush and China Glaze - First Mate.

I was waiting for today to make this nail art because we have our projection and presentation tomorrow morning, wish me luck!

I hope you liked these nails, let me know if you try that design ;)

Happy polishing,

Candy <3
